I absolutely worship this series of DVDs from Munchkin Math! My children who are 3 and 2 years ancient worship them so powerful and have learned their shapes, started to learn to impart time and count money!!! This is an incredible tool for every parent to expend to fabricate math fun. I was never into math, but I hope to foster spacious enjoyment in my have children through tools like this. I would recommend the whole series, as it is fun, intellectual and keeps a child’s attention. I also deem this would be a spacious tool for teachers and homeschoolers!

My children absolutely treasure this video. They watched it a few times, and truly learned how to affirm time. It was worth every penny! The animation is terrific! The entire Munchkin Math series is expansive!

Confused by all the Army of Darkness DVD releases (some in print, some out of print, some lingering halfway between)? I know I was. But I’ve done some research and figured it out, and here’s how it breaks down:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Army of Darkness! Click Here

1. The modern DVD release– was the recent theatrical version of the movie with few extras. Obliging record, first-rate sound, S-Mart ending. If you fair want to peep the best available version of the movie, you might rep this one (if you can composed accumulate it; it’s out of print now) . It also has the familiar movie poster mask with an overly muscled Bruce and the hokey “Obscene on gas” slogan.

2. The director’s cut– with the funny Molly Hatchet veil and the new ending. There are many minuses: key lines are changed (not necessarily for the better) . Great of the footage looks really noxious, including the entire concluding battle. All the deleted scenes have the feel of an eBay-purchased bootleg. Bottom line: AOD fans will like to glimpse the material, but this is hardly the movie’s best presentation. It’s serene circulating but they’re not making any more of them.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Army of Darkness! Click Here

3. The special edition– probably the best DVD release of the movie to date. The 2 disc version (which, like the director’s prick, is nearing the kill of its availability) is gargantuan. It features both the watchable theatrical version and the borderline-unwatchable director’s crop. It has commentary, unlike every other release, although the commentary is only available when viewing the director’s sever. It has a making-of featurette.

The single disc version (now the principal version of AOD available) is only a microscopic downgrade; basically, it’s the theatrical release, lookin’ and soundin’ pretty, with the unique ending as an extra, and the making of featurette also included. (The commentary is sadly missing.)

In summary: You can’t go horrible with the single disc special edition or the even better double disc special edition. Avoid the director’s gash unless you already beget the current DVD and unprejudiced want to watch all the original footage in all its grainy glory. The unusual DVD is a pleasing select if you objective wanna examine the movie, already.

2009 edit: to certain up some confusion in comments on this review, I wrote this eight long years ago. “Army” probably has five novel DVD editions since then, and I’m sorry to relate that I don’t care enough to preserve buying and comparing them. My experience so far has been that they maintain releasing recent versions with shrimp regard for what people really want. In my eyes, a definitive version would be:

1. The main feature would be the theatrical version, fully restored and anamorphic.

2. Deleted scenes and the alternate ending would be cleaned up and well-presented as extras - I know this is possible because I bear an Australian DVD of the movie that has them looking a lot cleaner than I’ve seen on all the older American versions. It would be also tremendous if they had a menu option to peek the theatrical gash with some of the deleted scenes added encourage in - in particular the longer (and more cohesive) windmill battle with the mini-Bruces should never have been trimmed down; I’d cherish to survey that in fleshy as allotment of the movie. There’s a lop that plays on some TV channel (AMC maybe? ) that includes this scene, but unfortunately other parts are changed to their detriment - not a tremendous trade-off. I assume most fans of the movie engage the unusual version of the movie - the S-mart ending, the unusual one-liners, etc. - but don’t mind seeing some additional scenes thrown in.

3. Commentary, making-of featurette, etc. all included. The track describe of this stuff on previous releases has been very spotty.

4. And finally do it suitable - place this version (probably a 2 DVD spot) in print and win rid of the other ones, and Preserve it in print. Fans are tired of re-buying this movie unprejudiced to procure out that it’s the same damn thing with a line or scene changed… if that. Let’s tie a orderly bow on this thing and be done with it. I’m as titanic a fan as they arrive and I stopped buying the unique DVDs a couple versions ago.

For the sake of clarity, I honest want to say that there is no draw I could review any version of Army of Darkness without giving it five stars. It is a recent classic which I can study over and over again. Seeing the Dinky Infamous Ashes rob on Ash causes me to laugh out loud with every “My resplendent lady.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Army of Darkness! Click Here

Having said that, I can’t imagine why they are releasing yet another SE DVD area of it. I gain the 2-disc Small Edition which came out a few years ago. I can’t pick up anything different about this fresh “Boomstick Edition” that isn’t on the musty Puny Edition. Both have the unique theatrical release and the director’s reduce with 15 additional minutes of footage. Both have the Men Late The Army featurette. Both have the Raimi, Campbell, Raimi commentary. The only thing I’ve noticed so far is that the Boomstick edition comes with some kind of 10 page collectible book which my LE spot didn’t have. But unless they made some drastic changes to either the video or audio to positive up imperfections which I never noticed in the first space, I couldn’t elaborate buying this recent edition. But if you don’t yet beget Army of Darkness, don’t be a faded screwhead. Click on the Rob It Now link and gather it.

I believe it’s splendid to say that Hairspray is a recent motion recount. The film, while providing nonstop fun and laughs throughout, also manages to not only confront but to roll suitable over prejudice in several of its horrible guises. I was a teenager when this film came out, and sadly, it was the death of Divine (honest before the movie was released) that made me aware of this film. I don’t know if that publicity helped or damage imprint sales - Divine, for those who have never heard of him, was noted for playing female roles, and Hairspray had begun to rejuvenate his whole career. As for the film, it’s extremely campy in the best of ways, overflowing with expansive singing and dancing from the early 1960s, and it is the type of film that makes you feel expedient after you peer it.

Ricki Lake plays Tracy Turnblad, a titanic, dauntless, and resplendent teenager who dreams of dancing on the exceedingly celebrated Corny Collins dance exhibit. Her mother, played by Divine, isn’t too crazy about recent music and dancing - until Tracy auditions and gets a set on the point to. Strutting her stuff in front of the cameras, she lickety-split becomes Baltimore’s newest sensation. This does not sit well with Amber von Tussle (Colleen Fitzpatrick), as Tracy steals her man and then threatens to bag the coveted title of Miss Auto Reveal 1963. Tracy is overweight, but she likes herself unbiased as she is and easily dismisses the rotund jokes thrown her method early on. The expansive direct in this film, though, is segregation. Tracy and her best friend Penny Pingleton (Joann Havrilla) soon become friends with some of the unlit kids in town and originate working toward integrating the Corny Collins expose. Collins is all for the notion himself, as currently the Negro explain runs only once each month under the controls of sassy Motormouth Mabel (Ruth Brown) . The situation manager will not hear of integration, though, and Penny’s mother is aghast to glean out that her daughter is in worship with an African-American. This is 1962, of course. The whole segregation inform becomes the basic foundation of the movie as it dances its scheme to the raze, making Hairspray a wonderfully intelligent film with a serious message late it.

The film is blessed with many captivating cast members. Divine plays not only Mrs. Turnblad but also the plot manager, Jerry Stiller plays Mr. Turnblad, Sonny Bono and Debbie Harry (and Debbie Harry’s increasingly arresting hair) reach together to play Amber von Tussle’s parents, and Ric Ocasek and Pia Zadora demonstrate up as Beatniks in a queer microscopic cameo appearance. Of course, Ricki Lake resplendent considerable steals the demonstrate as the tremendous girl with substantial dreams, although I found Joann Havrilla’s performance as Penny Pingleton quite sharp in a queer sort of arrangement.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hairspray! Click Here

It is very difficult to relate Hairspray; you glowing considerable have to gape it to derive a honest feel for its entertainment assets and social commentary underpinnings. It does have its droll moments, but this is not entertainment for the sake of entertainment, nor is this a film you will soon forget after watching it.

Hairspray is one of John Waters’ more mainstream movies in that it deals with the themes of racial tensions leading up to an integrated Baltimore, teen angst and first correct loves, and those amazing dances and dance shows on TV from the tedious 1950s into the 1960s. Of course, with Hairspray being a John Waters movie, characters become grossly exaggerated for a droll effect; you acquire a very comic, waggish and harmless cast of both young and older people in Baltimore facing changing times as they try to live their lives as best they can.

Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake) is an overweight teenage girl who can shake off jokes about her weight with a type of self-confidence that is truly mighty. Tracy and her friend Penny Pingleton (Joann Havrilla) indulge in watching and dancing along to The Corny Collins TV Explain in Tracy’s living room at home; and one day Tracy sets her mind to trying out for the note with some befriend from her friend Penny. When Tracy does try out on the Corny Collins TV dance exhibit for dancing teenagers, she wins a space on the council almost immediately! This upsets the stuck up, racist reigning queen Amber von Tussle and her parents (Sonny Bono and Debbie Harry) who compose their living running Tilted Acres, a segregated theme park in Baltimore. As Tracy’s star rises she also charms the heart of Amber’s boyfriend, Link Larkin (Michael St. Gerard) . Of course, this means war. Amber and her parents must–I mean, must–find a contrivance to disgrace Tracy so that Amber can remain the star of the indicate and ultimately gain the highly coveted 1963 Miss Auto Display award. Of course, as this all happens, Hairspray pokes fun at the obsession some people had with getting their hair to be as high and as perfect looking as they view it could or should be.

The movie moves along at an even paddle and the action keeps your attention. Eye for John Waters himself as the psychiatrist hired by Penny’s parents when they derive out she has a shaded boyfriend named Seaweed. Divine turns in quite a performance as both Tracy Turnblad’s mother and Arvin Hodgepile, the TV studio owner who could can The Corny Collins Note if it becomes integrated against his will. As if that weren’t enough, Ruth Brown plays the role of Motormouth Maybelle, a female describe store owner who is a prominent integrationist in Baltimore and who also sometimes judges on The Corny Collins Display.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hairspray! Click Here

Overall, the acting exceeds my expectations for a John Waters flick; and the choreography shines in spacious scenes where great crowds must depart about. I won’t give away the plot; but if you want to ogle well-behaved choreography peruse not at unprejudiced the complicated dance scenes they had to manage but also the hurry riot scene advance the Tilted Acres segregated amusement park.

The cinematography works well; and each character is developed nicely as the movie goes along. The casting is flawless, too.

Hairspray earns its withhold quite well; it will gain your undivided attention as you howl with laughter all the draw through! The DVD also features commentary by John Waters and Ricki Lake.

When it comes down to it, Hairspray manages to do be laughable, believe your attention and view rather serious issues concerning racial tensions, segregation, integration and the first factual worship each teen inevitably experiences–all at the same time and all in the same movie. That’s quite a feat; and I recommend this film for fans of John Waters movies but also for people who indulge in comedies that involve social commentary. Vast!

This movie captures a very current perspective on youth ice hockey. It touches on the struggles of the kids that play, the parents who acquire portion and the families that give up alot of other things to arrive together and luxuriate in an experience that is truly ‘once in a lifetime’. I can honestly say that I enjoyed the film from launch to enact and the clips with professional players unprejudiced reinforced the message that was there. If you want to notice some glamour film about hockey go rent, slap shot, youngblood or miracle, if you want right hockey about kids who live to play & breathe this is the movie to take and study.

Highly recommend this film to any parents or kids who are looking for a tale about hockey w/out the glitz & glamour, fair the fable of kids from California that nobody said could play at the level of kids from gargantuan hockey areas.

I bought this DVD for my ten year traditional as a Christmas point to and we both understanding it was wonderful. The hockey is tremendous, the kids in the myth are really likeable, and the ending totally surprised us. It was definitely better than most Hollywood movies and no unpleasant language or snide stuff for kids either! Unbiased an all around ample hockey yarn.

After a exiguous spurt of comical relief (complete with booby traps), “Bleach Volume 20″ hurtles encourage into the conflict with the Bounts, except the enemy now have a unique weapon to suck souls from the living. The fourth episode is procedure too heavy on the flashbacks, but otherwise it’s a solid introduction to the Dismal Notion of the Bounts, whose individual members inaugurate to note their personalities.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bleach, Vol. 20! Click Here

Kon, Noba, Ririn and Kuroudo settle to booby-trap Ichigo’s house in case of Bount invasion, but Ichigo is unimpressed (”Stout, they can wash their hands”) and wants them to choose them all down. Deeply offended, the three recent modsouls resolve to indicate Ichigo the error of his ways — of course, it backfires spectacularly.

Meanwhile, the mysterious novel dolls — called “bitto”– have started sucking the souls from living humans (and yes, I do esteem that phrase), which increases the Bounts’ powers but also acts like a drug to their bodies and minds. It also causes some wrong division in the Bounts’ ranks, as one of them tries to refuse the living souls — and a high-flying Kariya shows his nastier colors openly.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bleach, Vol. 20! Click Here

Hitsugaya sends a team of lieutenant-class Soul Reapers to the living world, while Ichigo and his friends go patrolling to bag the bitto. Renji is badly injured by them while saving a young boy, and Rukia and Orihime are yanked into a fight with the Bount Yoshi. And when Ichigo’s buddy Keigo is attacked by the Bitto, Ichigo enters a very personal duel against the Bount Koga and his newly supercharged doll, intelligent Koga’s memories of another young man he once knew.

One of the things that annoys me most about the “Bleach” filler episodes is the flashbacks — while the series has always had plenty of flashbacks, the fifteen-minute saga of how Koga’s teenage buddy Cain died a century or so ago doesn’t really add anything to the storyline. It also interrupts a truly awesome fight scene between Ichigo and a newly superspiky Dalk, leaving the episode feeling choppy.

Other than that, this quartet of episodes is fairly solid, with an even balance of horror-action (as the bittos swarm over Karakura town and turn people to dust) and comedy (”FEEL THE POWER OF JUSTICE!” Ichigo bellows when using a magic headband, lawful before it slams him into a chainlink fence) . And there are some snide fights brewing, especially since Ichigo doesn’t seem able to defend himself against Dalk, while Orihime and a handicapped Rukia are faced with a Bount woman with a talking fan and sword.

Obviously Koga is the one with the most character development in this one, with the sage of a plain surrogate son who is probably never going to be mentioned again. But Kariya starts really showing his correct colors when he has the living-soul juice, becoming cocky and casually brutal — even forcing the juice down the throat of unpleasant Mabashi, who apparently starts cracking like an egg because of it.

And the gang of modsouls provide some laughable relief when they status up their cute yet droll miniature traps (”My trap’s a success! It does more than trap the victim — it makes them descend face-first into a pie!” Kon rejoices), and masquerade as a Bount doll in their shrimp bug-armor costumes. It’s a frothy slight yarn, but it’s cute and rather comical — especially when Rukia is being happy senseless by bunnies, and Renji finds himself swinging around a broom instead of a sword.

“Bleach Volume 20″ is a solid inaugurate to the precise battles against the Bount, albeit marred a bit by a pointless flashback that grinds everything to a discontinuance. Aloof, has enough action and comedy to be fun.

I impartial recenlty bought this DVD and I must say, it is an capable hold. I am not a hugh fan of Anime, but this one is definitely worth a second inspect.

The tale is spot in a future world where vast amounts of pollution has made the earth’s air unbreathable and everyone must wear a conceal to avoid brathing in the toxic gases. The crime rate has risen to a crime being committed every 36 seconds and the mayor forms an elite fighting force know as the “Tank Police”. When a novel crime gang (Led by the Cyborg, Buaku and the Cat Sisters, Anna & Uni Puma) wrecks havoc in Newport city, young Leona Ozaki is transferred to the “Tank Poilce” squad. After wrecking the “Squad Commander’s” (Charles Brenten) personal armored tank, Leona hand-makes a minute Mini-tank (Nicknamed: Bonaparte) out of parts of the “Squad Commander’s” fill Tank. This novel mini-Tank is a force to be reckoned with as it goes head to head with the criminals in an awesome action packed showdown.

Orginally released in Japan in 1989 as a two allotment movie. (The movie was later dubbed to English and released in the U.S. in 1993), the movie is clearly Anime at it’s finest (With no computer graphic effects) . The DVD includes both parts (All 4 acts) and features dual languages (English and Japanese. I recommend that people examine the film in the Japanese version becuase some dialog and music is deleted/changed in the English version.) Filled with lots of action sequence and hilarious one-liners, that will retain you on the edge of your seat, “Diminion: Tank Police” is no Saturday morning cartoon.

I was actually amazed to observe at the kill of act 4 that I’d watched the whole thing. Tank Police is plot in 4 acts, but in fact there are two stories on this disk. The first chronicle, in acts 1 and 2, status up the characters, the environment, and the internal conflict about the Tank Police. The second record, in acts 3 and 4, are about the criminal Buaku, his origins, and being human.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dominion Tank Police! Click Here

In act 1 and 2, the reasons for the crime isn’t explained at all, and isn’t alluded to at all in acts 3 and 4. Tremendous mystery. The slapstick is sorta laughable. The tanks peek rediculous, but around about the middle of act 2, you no longer behold. You feel for Leona, exiled to welfare for wrecking Squad Commander’s “tank special”. You feel a runt amazed that she is allowed to develop a slight tank out of the wrecked tank after this order is given. (But never mind, it wouldn’t be nearly as fun later if she wasn’t around.) This first account, first-rate this DVD as “unbiased another anime”. Fortunately, there were two more acts.

The later acts launch out vague, but riveted me to my seat. I couldn’t have torn myself away from the tube if I’d wanted to. The back-story about Buaku and his reasons for stealing the record are deeper than I was willing to give this anime credit for. Then the interaction between Leona and Buaku as the epic comes out is nothing short of magical. Leona is forced to seek this hated criminal, who she can’t execute a deal with to achieve her life because she is a “tank police”, as a person. And Buaku sees that not all humans are poor, sparing Leona’s life even though she wouldn’t manufacture the deal.

The animation is okay, with some shots seemingly stills with enhanced flashing bits to beget them “travel”. Not as abominable as some, and never a whole scene.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dominion Tank Police! Click Here

As for technical merits, the menus are easy to follow, the transfer is helpful enough average. Sound is mono, but maybe thats all there ever was.

And finally, I must mention that if you are into lowbrow humor that none of us would ever be caught plain actually laughing at (we are all grown-up here, suitable? ) bewitch this one for the “anti tank” weapons in act 2. Absolutly hillarious!

I feel ripped off…I really do. I had all the archaic American releases on DVD (which I will be selling to a local merchant because they deal in mature DVDs) to recoup some of the cost I spent on this place. THIS IS NOT THE NETWORK DVD/UK EDITION REMASTERS FOR Residence 1…let’s acquire that VERY definite.

If you have a multi-region/format player, go over to Amazon UK and order the First Season from Network…it is *spectacular*. You can also pre-order the Second Season from Network there as well (release date is Sept 10) . The Network DVDs have phenomenal video AND audio, crisp and positive 5.1 audio in fact that gives your sub-woofer a workout. Needless to say, I pre-ordered mine from across the pond the day I got this.

Why 3 stars? Overall tale and series would have gotten a 5. Minus four stars for the remaster rip-off, plus a star for slimmer packaging/better brand, plus a star for *some* improvement in the audio (now 2.0 stereo as opposed to mono) and a bit of an improvement on Season Two eps video.

There is no comparison…the Network DVDs are spectacular!

As soon as we got this in, we opened a site and checked it out…

This so-called digitally remastered 30th Anniversary edition is NO DIFFERENT than the older Mega Place…impartial slimmer packaging. You mild explore all the spots, smudges, hairs, graininess. The only reason to catch this is if you have not already gotten the older state and want to build some money. Gloomy, really, that we did not derive the better UK remastered product.

Dorothy borrows one of Blanche’s men when she needs a date for her goddaughter’s wedding. As can be expected, this engenders a massive fight. Meanwhile, Sophia proceeds to effect an worn Sicilian curse on the grandfather of the groom who deserted her on their wedding day, seventy years earlier. Rose leaves the reception and boards a plane to be reunited with Miles.

24. All Bets Off

Dorothy returns to her addiction to gambling, something she opinion she had conquered fifteen years earlier. Meanwhile, Blanche decides to date her co-worker and Rose takes up painting.

25-26. The Presidents Coming! The Presidents Coming! Parts 1&2

The President is coming to Miami to dedicate the novel Senior Citizens building and decides that he would like to meet Dororthy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia. As the girls anticipate his arrival, they initiate to discuss their past which mostly concerns clips from previous episodes.

This is an capable demonstrate, and I highly recommend it. The characters are so unbelievable that you will fragment their joys and sorrows as though they were your occupy.

“The Golden Girls” continued to pour on the laughs as it went into Season Five. For this season the reveal had something novel. The recent writing team that wrote many of the episodes of “The Golden Girls” during its first four seasons decided to leave and pursue other projects. So a fresh staff of writers came on to write the episodes, and for the most fraction did a very marvelous job. However, Season Five was slightly weaker than the previous four seasons. While most the episodes for the fifth season did have its part of grand laughs, there were a few episodes that seemed to lack the comedy that all the episodes from the first four seasons had, and this seemed sure with a unique writing team. On the shining side, director Terry Hughes was succor to utter the episodes, but Season Five would eventually be his final season at the helm of “The Golden Girls”. His directing of the episodes in Season Five kept this point to on top. After he left, the reveal started to lose a diminutive of its greatness and funny edge in its final two seasons.

SEASON FIVE (1989-90)

The modern writing team of “The Golden Girls” tried to do some unique things to sustain this prove at the top of its game, and throughout Season Five came up with some kindly ideas and a fresh ongoing storyline. That storyline was Rose meeting a charming guy who would become her original boyfriend. That charming guy was Miles, who was wonderfully played by Harold Gould. Gould, who guest starred in the third episode of “The Golden Girls” draw encourage in its first season, was terrific in this role and turned up in a couple of episodes in Season Five. This storyline with Rose and Miles was a winner. It was a tiny change of dash that the present needed. Episodes enthralling Rose and Miles included: when they begin going out for the first time and Rose thinks she’s too monotonous for his taste, and when Miles introduces Rose to his daughter and his daughter tells Rose to halt away from him because he hasn’t gotten over the loss of his wife. Other respectable episodes in Season Five included: Dorothy becoming very ill and going to several different doctors who can’t glean out what’s evil with her; Blanche’s daughter coming to visit and telling her mother that she’s going to have a baby via artificial insemination; Dorothy begins to date a lawyer who also has a gig as a circus clown; Blanche dealing with the death of her father; Dorothy helping out a pregnant teenage girl and trying to procure the girls’ father (who’s thrown her out) to step in and benefit her out too; Rose getting tested for the HIV virus; Dorothy hosting Stan’s Communist cousin who comes to Miami for a visit; Dorothy becoming addicted to gambling; and the girls preparing to meet the President of the United States.

“The Golden Girls” domination at the Emmy Awards ended after being shut out for its fourth season, but the nominations didn’t halt. For Season Five, the prove got 8 nominations, including another nod for Best Comedy Series. This was also the first time that Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, and Rue McClanahan were all not nominated together for Best Actress in a Comedy Series like they were for the first four seasons. This time, only White was nominated, while Arthur and McClanahan were passed over. Estelle Getty was nominated again for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and deservedly so. She should have won three or four Emmys for her role as Sophia. Also recognized again was director Terry Hughes, who received directing nominations for all five seasons of “The Golden Girls”, winning on his second nomination for Season Two. His last “Golden Girls” directing nomination was for the Season Five episode titled “Triple Play”, which was one of the best directed episodes that I’ve ever seen. This episode deals with three totally different storylines that tie up neatly at the end: Rose meeting Miles’ daughter; Blanche’s backfired attempt at meeting men by renting a aged car and pretending that its for sale, and all the men become more alive to in the car than in going out with her; and Dorothy dealing with Sophia, who has stolen government money.

Some of the guest stars from Season Five of “The Golden Girls” include: Dick Van Dyke as Dorothy’s lawyer boyfriend who also does double duty as a circus clown in the episode “Cherish Under the Great Top”; Jeffrey Tambor (”Arrested Development”) as one of the doctors who can’t gain the illness that Dorothy comes down with in share 1 of the episode “Sick and Tired”; Geraldine Fitzgerald (who guest starred on an episode of “The Golden Girls” in Season Three) as Sophia’s friend who plans to commit suicide in the episode “Not Another Monday”; Robert Mandan (”Soap”) as Blanche’s modern beau who suffers a heart attack in the episode “Substantial Expectations”; Trace Moses (”Desperate Housewives”) as a young man who claims to be the illegitimate son of Blanche’s unhurried husband in the episode “An Illegitimate Peril”; Eddie Bracken as Rose’s first fancy in the episode “Twice in a Lifetime”; Barbara Babcock (”Hill Street Blues”) as Blanche’s sister who comes to Miami as the newest author of a book that seems to be about Blanche’s life, and Marian Mercer (”It’s a Living”) as Stan’s Communist cousin who complains about everything in America (except 7-Eleven Slurpees) in the episode “Sisters and Other Strangers”; Jerry Orbach (”Law & Order”) as a guy Dorothy dated from the past in the episode “Cheaters” (this same character was featured in an episode of Season One and was played then by Alex Rocco) ; and Timothy Stack (”Night Stand”) as a government agent trying to procure information on the girls before the arrival of the U.S. President in the episode (”The President’s Coming! The President’s Coming!”)

I have rated “The Golden Girls”: The Complete Fifth Season 5 stars. But if Amazon.com have 1/2 star ratings to rate from, I would have rated Season Five 4 1/2 stars, because to me the fifth season of my well-liked explain of all time wasn’t quite up there with Seasons One through Four. But that doesn’t mean that Season Five is awful. No contrivance! There’s lots to like in Season Five, and (of course) I highly recommend it to the show’s biggest fans.

Now I’m anxiously awaiting Season Six.

After the success of the Gundam movies, Yoshiyuki Tomino moved onto to two sequels series, Gundam Z and ZZ. Finally, after the all this time, Tomino decided it was time for Amuro and Char’s last mission in a full-length Gundam movie. The fans went wild.

The memoir takes off in the year UC 0093. Without any explanation at this time, Char is now the leader of Neo Zeon and plans to send the Earth into a nuclear winter as well as defeat his long-time nemesis, Amuro. But with many stale and current characters mixed up in this battle, it won’t be pleasing.

CHARACTERS

Amuro: Returning to the battlefield, now being a responsible adult.

The animation for a 1980’s film is top notch. The funnels moves about at an insane streak battling each other across the cover. Its a marvel to glance. What this film tried to do was cram as mighty shriek and action as it could into two hours and they did a broad job at that. The fresh screech actors from the English version of the TV series beget their debut once again. They all do a relatively genuine job and are almost on par with the Japanese cast.

The audio is quite impressive as well. You come by both language tracks in either 2.0 or 5.1 Dolby. An racy sign is that the Japanese track has not been remixed as it was with the three Gundam movies. This marks as the first Tomino Gundam feature not to have been tampered with so go nuts. Sadly, the English track falls wait on on all those sounds you heard in the remix versions of Gundam.

The extras acquire up glowing well, but aren’t really groundbreaking. There are two theatrical trailers for the movie, but without it being in widescreen perform, you feel you’ve lost something. The other extra is the Gundam model music video which shows how models are place into production. Not all that fun, but aloof informative. The last extra is a filmography of all of Tomino’s works which is nice if you haven’t seen it yet.

Overall, Char’s Counterattack ended up being everything I hoped it would. Raging Newtypes battling each other furiously in mobile suits. I couldn’t ask for better than this.

Where would anime be nowadays without series like “Mobile Suit Gundam? ” I shudder to consider. Very few anime have had the impact that “Gundam” has had since it first premiered in 1979. No one foresaw what was to become of the series. In 1988 this is the ultimate result; the greatest battle in anime history.

“Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack” was made to provide closure to a rivalry that had been going on for nearly ten years. The rivalry being between the two main characters of the modern “Mobile Suit Gundam,” the first Gundam pilot, Amuro Ray, and the dreaded Zeon ace, Char Aznable. The record takes area in Universal Century 0093, about 14 years after the events in “Mobile Suit Gundam,” and peace has been disrupted once again (how long does peace actually last in this universe? ) . The long-dormant Char Aznable has risen to select the reigns of leadership of the Neo-Zeon movement, and ultimately plans on destroying the Earth Federation. The Federation, in retaliation, send out their Lando Bell Force to discontinuance Char. Among one of the top members of Lando Bell, is none other than Amuro Ray. The two men serene sport grudges against one another even after fourteen years, and it all comes down to this moment. Who will survive?

Bandai took some mammoth risks in bringing this title to the States. Considering that there is 3 series worht of backstory to this movie, an excess of 150 episodes. It is easy to behold people who have not followed “Mobile Suit Gundam.” Thankfully, Bandai has included a 12-page booklet with the DVD to yelp exactly what happened that sparked up between Char and Amuro over these fourteen years. As well as terminology and who’s who in this Gundam myth. Even if you know all these things, the booklet is a gargantuan collector’s item. Anyway, on to the large stuff.

The narrative is handsomely well-played out. Events recede at such an erratic traipse that one can’t assist but to let the film sweep them in. One shrimp, everything is unruffled and characters are learning, in the next diminutive, explosions everywhere and people are tiring,. This is by all means a war narrative that rivals even “Star Wars.” When people die in “Gundam”…they die, no two ways about it. War is not galmorized in this series, war is a last resort for a hasten of creatures that deliberatly leads itself towards a last resort. And humanity? Well I heard Yoshiyuki Tomino sigh on this matter, and since he is the “Father of Gundam” his words are better than mine; “No matter how destructive they can be, humanity is unexcited elegant.” A theme that has been a staple of “Gundam” ever since.

Characters are well-portrayed in this movie, bringing forth an array of recent blood as well as passe faces. Char and Amuro have grown and matured over the course of time. Amuro has turned from the whiny kid who refused to pilot Gundam into a hardened battle old-fashioned who realizes his duties and responsibilities. Char has turned from a bitter Zeon soldier into an idealistic leader who wants nothing more than the destruction of those who Considering that Tomino didn’t have fifty episodes to boom a fable like he always does (kidding), to analyze these characters and flesh them out in a span of 2 hours is quite a feat. Lives are changed through out this conflict, and it can be seen in the characters tremulous expressions and anguished cries.

The animation is very well-done for it’s time. This is definitely movie-quality animation. Especially during the climactic battle scenes. Very few anime have been able to conduct battle scenes this chaotic and destructive without losing something, this is one of the few. It’s nice to peek something that a nearly fifteen year-old movie can believe its enjoy against “higher quality” stuff nowadays.

Speaking of animation, this movie features the best-looking mecha to date. The mecha in this film were designed by Yutaka Izubuchi, most notorious for “Patlabor” and “Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket.” It was also helped by, at the time, the young members of GAINAX, yup before they made “Furi Kuri,” “Kare Kano,” “Evangelion,” “Gunbuster,” or even “Wings of Honeiamise,” they were doing exiguous animation projects for Sunrise. If you don’t hold me, check out the designs for Char’s Sazabi and Amuro’s Nu Gundam. The Gundam featured in this movie is probably the coolest Gundam featured in any medium that carries the name.

The music also goes very well with the movie. Music is actually fully-orchestrated and helps elaborate the titanic sage nature of this film. It is very difficult not to be moved by some of these great pieces. Definitely, a expansive change of trek for those who are familiar with the techno-beat of “Gundam Sail” or the trendy pop of “Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.” This is “Bravehaert” meets “Star Wars,” and if that isn’t yarn, I don’t know what is.

Sound was ancient very well in the film. Bandai decided to compliment both Japanese and English tracks with both 2.0 and 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtracks. What does that mean? Well, fair crank up the volume and listen to things go Narrate.

The only flaws I have seen in the movie would be the ample backstory that might alienate those who haven’t seen “Gundam.” That, and the ending is not feasible the first time one watches it. However, one of the key reasons to bear this is so you can notice the anime again and realize what the ending means. And to those who have already seen the movie; yes the ending DOES do sense, the hint is actually in the film.

In the kill, “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack” is quite possibly the best “Gundam” title to date. Providing closure to the greatest anime rivalry of all time was no easy task. But Tomino was able to pull it off with grace. This is an chronicle by every means of the word. A clear ticket that “Gundam” is synonomous with “eternal.”
